Geared five-bar mechanism, which can perform multiform motion, is a representative type. So, Study on dimensional synthesis of geared five-bar mechanism is very important and meaningful. As the localization of traditional analytic and geometric method, the synthesis process is complicated and tedious. People strive to find a simple, convenient and shortcut approach of dimensional analysis. In the paper, we create three basic simulation mechanism by using computer aided geometry approach and have dimensional synthesis referred to path generation, function generation, motion generation, higher-order and combined point-order synthesis. The main contributions are as follows: In case of CAD geometric approach, including geometric constraint, dimension constraint, dimension equation and dimension driving, three primary simulation mechanisms are created. After that, the precision and approximate simulation mechanisms are developed from it.For path generation, simulation mechanism is obtained by prescribing the path of one point. We use measure the dimension of all linkages. We also calculate the dimension by analytics and compare their results. For function generation, simulation mechanism is obtained by setting up the function connection between input and output linkage. For motion generation, simulation mechanism is obtained by restricting one part of floated linkage to realize the prescribed motion. For higher-order and combined point-order synthesis, combined with mathematics theories, simulation mechanism is created .The result of computer simulation show that the mechanism simulation approach is not only fairly quick and straightforward, but also has advantages of accuracy and repeatability.
