The control stability and ride comfort of the vehicle are two important aspects that people care, they are ambivalent and affect with each other. Engineers can only try their best to enhance vehicle ride comfort in case that the vehicle security be sufficed.With the development of the vehicle industry, the requirements of the vehicle are enhanced too. Not only should vehicles be safe, but also should they be comfortable. So engineers do a lot of research work on vehicle ride comfort simulation, vehicle experiment, suspension structure and the way to control suspension system performance. Base on a kind of economical saloon car, the article finishes the job on ride comfort simulation and vehicle experiments which makes a foundation for the improvement of suspension system and the enhancement of vehicle ride comfort.The ride comfort of the vehicles will affect people's tiredness extent, work intensity and mood; so it will affect the driving security and accident probability. The control stability and ride comfort of the vehicle are ambivalent with each other, scientists have worked for quite a long time to research how to make a vehicle quite safe and comfortable at the same time. So the research work of vehicle's ride comfort is quite meaningful to enhance the security and capability of vehicle.The article reviews on the growing history of the vehicle suspension system, make a brief introduction of a kind of softwarecalled MATLAB/Simulink. It also introduces the purpose and main work contents of the whole article.In chapter two, main internal estimate methods of vehicle ride comfort are introduced, it contains the formulas which are used in vehicle ride comfort estimate. There are also some introductions about the internal research work on vehicle ride comfort. Based on a kind of economical saloon car, a seven degree vehicle model is built. Lagrange formula of the seven degree vehicle model is given, then the vehicle ride comfort simulation model is built in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. The data that get from the simulation are processed according to the internal criterion.A seven degree vehicle model is built in chapter three. The model is based on a kind of economical saloon car. Some measure work are done in order to provide the model with correct parameters, and the simulation model is run in the MATLAB/Simulink environment. After the simulation, respond results of acceleration are gotten. The simulation work contains three chairs on the vehicle model, the driver's, the copilot's and the one behind driver. After relevant data processing, the results of frequency domain are also gotten in chapter three.Vehicle experiments are executed according to the GB/T 4970—1996 with different speed on road of grade B. The principle of vehicle ride comfort experiments, the functions and some principles of the equipments are introduced. The article also tells the way and process of experiments and the requirements for equipments, vehicle, road and the weather etc. In the experiments, the acceleration signals of the driver's chair, copilot's chair and the one behind driver are samplinged for getting the results of time domain.Data processing and results analysis are the main work in chapter five in order to prove that the simulation model and the results we get are correct. The data processing and analysis contains the acceleration root mean square value, the frequency peak value and the amplitudevalue etc. Errors between the simulation and experiments are gotten form the data analysis. The data analysis conclusions are given below.1. The driver's seat is the best ride comfort point on the car, then is the copilot's and the one's behind driver.2. The seven degree vehicle model can be used in the ride comfort research work.3. The ride comfort of the vehicle that be used in the experiments is sensitive to the drive speed, the fall on ride comfort is different even increase the same speed. The sensitive speed of different seats are not the same also.4. The errors between simulation and experiments are not the same in different speed that means in some speed the results of simulation are quite similar with the experiments', and in some speed they are not.5. The model that be built can be developed in the future, add some degree and make it more detailed, so it can simulate vehicle's ride comfort better.Dynamic simulation is one of the way which can enhance the efficiency of the new products research work. By this way, the main characteristic of the products can be gotten without the real production. It is quite useful to save time and money in the process of research work. Simulation technology can simulate work process of the products even some technology can not be gotten at that time, it is very convenient for scientists to find the problems of products, so it acts a important role in vehicle research work.
