The air suspension has the characteristics of nonlinear variable spring rate. Toimprove vehicle handling stability and ride comfort, the characteristic curve can bedesigned to comply with the vehicle vibration. In this paper based on the theory andpractice of previous studies, air suspension was selected as research object, vehicle’smathematical model was established, fuzzy control was adopted as air suspensioncontrol strategy, vehicle’s ride comfort and handling stability was analyzed andsimulated through MATLAB and Simulink.In this paper, a vehicle dynamic model was established with vehicle dynamicstheory. The state space expression and suspension system frequency response functionof mathematical model were derived. Then according to the gas state equation verticalair spring stiffness expression was derived, and the air spring stiffness and therelationship between the influencing factors were simulated and analyzed. To improvethe control effect, a fuzzy controller was designed. Block diagrams for a quartervehicle model and full vehicle model were established. Time-domain andfrequency-domain simulation diagrams were obtained. Simulation results show thatthe mathematical model is reasonable. The fuzzy controller has a good performance tomeet the actual demand. Vehicle’s ride comfort is improved. Air suspension andpassive suspension’s handling stability was compared and analyzed through vehicletest, and test results proved that has air suspension superior handling stability.
