With the development of modern logistics, real-time information exchangeand transmission become possible. EPC is a new information managementtechnology to improve the logistics supply chain management and reduce costs. Allindividual entities can be identified (including retail, logistics units, the container,reight packaging, etc.) uniquely. EPC is logistics revolution effective markinghistoric significance. The combing of EPC and RFID and Internet technology, willbring great change to the industrial production and business operations andmankind daily life, which will effectively increase the efficiency of our logisticssupply chain and reduce logistics costs.Container transport is the ideal way of modern bulk cargo transport. Morethan 90% of the world's containers are producted in China. Meanwhile, China hasbecome a veritable factory of the world, the turnover of containers accounted forthird place in the world. Therefore, the research and application of elcctronic tagused for containers will have an important impact on import and export trade, thecontainer manufacturer, RFID products and other enterprises. The traditionalidentification of container is by the only logo——the number of the box, whichhas some questions as low accuracy, the conflict of efficient and security and so on.This paper researched the container EPC encoding by use of EPC and RFIDtechnology based on the analysis of existing internal and international research.The encoding includes the fixed information and transport information. Also, thepaper established a container RFID management system .It realisized the uniqueeffective marking and tracking during transportation process, thereby the efficiencyof container transportation was improved.The whole paper was consisted of five chapters, which are as follows:The chapter 1 established the research content and the technical line on thebasis of studing the container EPC encoding background, purpose and significanceand the status quo at home and abroad. With the background of the demand ofelectronic tag for container transport and the development of EPC and RFIDtechnology, Container encoding is of major significance. It will improve themanagement level and the information technology level, enhance the efficiency oflogistics, bring unpredictable economic and social benefits, but also contribute tothe formulation of national standards for container management. At last, it willenhance China's international status.The chapter 2 contains three parts. The first part contains container transport'sadvantage, the existing container codes, identification and marking of containertransport and the problems encountered in the application of RFID in containertransportation. EPC encoding is the second part which of the encoding strategy,including the selection of EPC, EPC encoding principles as well as issues ofconcern to the EPC encoding,the encoding structure and type to lay the foundationfor the choice of container code. The third part is based on RFID theory, RFIDsystem composing. Tag is the carrier of information storage, readers readinformation for and antennas transmit information between the reader and tag.The focus of this article is the third chapter. The development of EPCencoding system and the emergence of Internet of things makes coding tocontainers inevitable. So the content of electronic tags was determined. It includesfixed information encoding, location information encoding, agent and cargoinformation encoding. Fixed part includes the basic information of containers, suchas the master of container, the number, type and size. Location part and agent partinclude information of the container transport, such as the admission / sender, theinitial, destination, the bill of lading numbers, trade item codes. Based on thesecond chapter described EPC coding theory, after determinedthe contents of thecode, the structure and types of coding was elected. The global trade GTIN codingsystem was elected to encode for containers. The common use of the goods codingGID-96 was elected to encode for cargo. The procedure and examples were givenat the last section.Chapter 4 established the container electronic tag management system basedon RFID.At the base of container encoding, standards for RFID technology waselected, including the codes write method, frequency choice, the choice of readersand antenna design. Own to the management system, the container yards from theproduction, transport and use of automatic identification process can achievereal-time tracking and management.The final chapter summary of this paper, the article also pointed out theproblems that exist, and we need to solve the problem. The prospect was made atlast.With the maturity and development of EPC and RFID, The containers EPCencoding standards will be made, RFID container management system would begenerally applied, the monitoring and management of container would beimproved.
