"Advanced analysis theory of steel frame", which was presented by Prof. W.F.Chen, the famous mechanical and structural expert, got broad attention by domestic and overseas scholar. This theory firstly accomplishes strength theory, buckling theory and plastic theory in one-step structure analysis, and it avoids disadvantages of separately considering the three theories. This thesis is about top and seat angle connections to weak axis, and that is one part of tests of the National Science Foundation project, Advanced Analysis Theory of Steel Structure in Three Dimension Space. In this thesis, bearing performance and damage mechanism about two types of top and seat angle connections to weak axis of H shaped column are analyzed systematically and comprehensively by pseudo-static tests. Curves about hysteresis, skeleton, stiffness of degeneracy and stress-strain of steel angle are obtained in this paper. It also deduces equations with initial stiffness and ultimate bearing capacity of this connection. Based on the consideration of three combined nonlinearity, utilizing the FEM software ANSYS, the paper analyzes the behavior of connection that is directly top-and-seat angle bolted to the column web under low circulatory load. Systematic analyses are put on the influential parameters of friction coefficient, pretension force, thickness of angle, height of beam, distance from bolt edge to angle back, thickness of column web, flange and rib stiffener.Using data offered in this thesis, program about advanced analysis theory can be obtained. Equations got in this paper are also verified by test and can be applied in practice. All of these are provided good foundation for further study on the behavior of top and seat angle connections to weak axis.
