The Preliminary Study On Contemporary Chinese Village Design

The village is the main habitat of the Chinese nation region culture. Nowadays, with the socialistic new countryside construction, the work to inherit, protect and develop the local conditions and customs cultural heritage of the Chinese village is one of the important tasks. In reality, under the background of the fast urbanization, the village has experienced the unconventional evolution. During this period, "quantity" inflated, "quality" distorted, "culture" loosed, "characteristic" declined and so on have become universal questions. But the public space of the village settlement, as the important carrier of the local conditions and customs culture, must obtain more attention and research urgently.With using the fieldwork, the comparative analysis and the case research methods, this article discusses one kind idea of the village public space design -village design by depended on the urban designing system. And takes the Lingquan village of Heyang County in Shaanxi province as the concrete research object, has carried on the practical village design exploration.Firstly, detailed investigation of the general situations is conducted in Lingquan village which is the concrete object of study. By analyzing the synthesis problems, the torsion of village local customary culture is one of the most important reasons which resulted in the chaos and disorder of village habitat further. While the village public space has concentrated most questions which influence the inheritance of local conditions and customs culture directly. Secondly, the fundamental knowledge of village public space system is established in this article, interpreting from the concept, the constitution, the development, the user's behavior and space demand directions.The concept, the principle, the content and the process of village design are presented by comparing that with urban design. To the public space, the village design is an important part of village planning and construction. In the aspects of space, social culture and so on, village design should pay attention on the relation between space and human, dig for the connotation of local conditions and customs cultural with using the correlative methods and theories. In order to make the renewal of traditional settlements and the planning of the modern villages both satisfy modern life's need and continue local characteristic, historical context.The emphasis of village design comprises four main aspects: cultivating and forming of the village natural ecology landscape system; finding, concentrating and developing of customary culture; coming down, protecting and developing of historical heritage; regulating, updating and constructing of material life space system and so on. The designing should carry through parsing the object, finding the resources and infusing the modern function.Finally, taking the Lingquan village as the practicing example, using the conception of village design, for the village scope, old country public space and infra-neighbors three different space levels, concrete design practice is conducted. Try to find a way of village design for protecting village customary culture heritage and contemporary industrial life in the scope of village habitat.
