This article systematically analyzed the culture and spatial structure of Han Dynasty landscape by utilizing the theory of landscape and the correlated discipline which revealed the traditional Chinese theory of selecting location and planning. The research on spatial structure of Han Dynasty landscape has close relationship with the culture, philosophy thought and esthetics of Han landscape, which was briefly discussed in the section of introduction. The discussions focused on several subjects: (1) the art symbol of the unified empire, natural landscape and eremitic culture are the typical culture characteristics of it. (2) the connection of philosophy thought and esthetics and the cosmic view of following nature are the typical philosophy thought of it; (3) only collection emptiness is the spatial view of its aesthetic view. This paper investigated and verified the conception of garden, landscape, landscape culture, spatial pattern and introduced the Chinese landscape study theory and FengShui theory in detail.Four examples are validated: The Chinese Gan-spring Palace and garden ruins, Mausoleum Garden of Xuanyuan Huang Emperer, Zhangliang Temple Garden and the Tomb Garden of Zuge Wuhou. Deep investigations and analyses are carried out on the characteristics of natural environment, physical factors, the architectural composition and so on for these examples. After these we got the three kind of spatial patterns which are inside, outside and the integrated pattern. At the same time, three kinds of manifestations in the spatial cognition related models by using GIS are perceptive space, cognitive space and symbolic space, which are used as academic theory in order to investigate the cognition pattern of Han Dynasty in selecting location. In this paper, we discussed the problems of protection, development and utilizing for the scenic spot and took ZhangLiang Temple and the Tomb of Zuge Wuhou as examples. But, as to the developing method of Ganquan Mountain palace we primarily discussed the spatial demonstration tentative plan and we believed that the best method was to protect the original work and exempt the artificial destruction. The spatial pattern of Han Dynasty profoundly influenced the development of Chinese classical botanical garden. This article took the designing method of Chang An city of Tang Dynasty, Nan Jing city of Ming Dynasty, Beijing city of Ming&Qing Dynasty, as well as the Yu Hua Palace and JiuCheng Palace as examples, explained the developing the characteristics of Chinese classical botanical garden in detail. The academic principles of combining with nature on the study of Chinese landscape still have significance in the practice of creating Chinese characteristic designs of landscape nowadays.
