Recently, the ice thermal storage air-conditioning system operated in the way of "made in night and used in daytime ", which raised the efficiency of energy, optimized the resources disposition and obtained the electric power production department and the air conditioning user's favor by its superiorities of "move the peak load to the off-peak" and "saved the operating cost", is utilized widely in domestic and abroad day by day. The application of the ice thermal storage air-conditioning system has been in the transformation stage from the demonstration project to the expanded scale utilization in our country, at present the studies concentrate on the dynamic characteristics of ice thermal storage tank, the optimization of the system, the economic analysis and assessment of the system.Because it reduces the heat lose of the indirectly ice thermal storage, the direct evaporation ice-on-coil thermal storage system, which, is simple, and makes the movement reliable and obtains a lower water temperature, has obtained the widespread application. However, the traditional ice-on-coil density (this article refers to the ice-on-coil's compactness, which is the ice-on-coil's spacing)is small, and the ice layer is thick, which causes the thermal resistance enlarge obviously, the refrigeration efficiency reduce evidently, and makes the ice thermal storage cycle to be longer. With the development of the national economy and the popularity of the civil air-conditioning, the trend of the electric power is that the peak load time lasts longer and the off-peak load time gets shorter. So the ice thermal storage air-conditioning system is demanded to storage amount of ice in the off-peak load time which can satisfy the air-conditioning load in the peak time.Our topic group undertook the science and technology tackle key problem project of Henan Province — "the study of the high density direct evaporation ice thermal storage air conditioning ".The aim of the research is that how the character of the ice thermal storage system changes with the variable ice-on-coil density. We established the high density direct evaporation ice-on-coil storage experiment platform which can change the density of evaporate coil, and did the dynamic experiment in different density of the ice coil. In order to know and grasp the dynamic characters more comprehensively and precisely, such as the water temperature, the amount of ice thermal storage, and the COP of the chiller. We also conducted the simulation study using the BP neural network basing on the experimental study. Finally, we compared the simulation results with the experimental results, and then mastered the characters of high density direct evaporation ice-on-coil thermal storage. At last, we obtained the proper ice-on-coil density, which can produce reasonable and economical ice layer thickness. In a word, it can provide the theorial and experimental reference for optimization of the traditional direct evaporation ice-on-coil thermal storage air conditioning equipment.
