The paper reviews the research of temperature field for frictional brake, and finds that the primary problem for the research of temperature field is the knowledge for coefficient of heat partition in friction pair is not enough. So, the research for three-dimensional transient temperature field of frictional brake in process of braking is based on many assumptions. In order to solve the insufficiency in temperature field study, the tribological property of fictional materials is measured by experiments at first. The results indicate that temperature do not has great influences on friction coefficient,. Then, a corrected equation for coefficient of heat partition is obtained by comparing data from experiment with the data from finite element analysis, and this offers foundations for simulating the temperature field of friction brake. Based on the above results, the three-dimensional transient temperature field in the process of braking is studied by taking the non-uniformity of heat flux, forced convection of heat transfer and synchro-loading into consideration,, and the distributions of temperature field and temperature gradient are obtained. By analyzing the effects of radii and thickness of disc on maximal temperature, the paper shows that the maximal temperature decreases as the radii and thickness increase. The effects of starting velocity on maximal temperature indicate that the maximal temperature increases with the increasing of starting velocity. The results of this paper offer references for the design of disc brake.
