More bridges have been built with the rapid development of the society, civil engineering techniques, more attention has been drawn to the safety, durability and normal functions of these existing bridges. The bridge information management system(BIMS) has been introduced into these bridges and got rapid development, which makes the BIMS becoming an active domain of academe and engineering all over the world.In the paper, the BIMS was developed based on summarizing and studying BIMS and assessment technologies in the world according to the practical conditions.Based on the general comparision of the different database management software, the BIMS was developed by Microsoft SQL Server2000.According to the general comparision of the different evaluation, the Degree. Extent. Relevancy. evaluate method was developed in the BIMS.Based on the required analysis of the existing bridges' evaluation, the BIMS's frame was designed. In order to ensure the integrity and the coherence among the datasheets, the primary key, the foreign key and the rule constraint which are in the database was set.It is a feature of this paper that the commands which commonly used in the database are dealt with trigger in order to enhance the system running speed.Based on using elementary ideas of the latest theories with the combination of extensive achievements of bridge condition assessment and the other correlative domains, the BIMS was established based on D. E. R. assessment method.
