Fiber optic gyroscope (FOG) is a new type of angle-velocity transducer, with the merits of fast start-up, wide dynamical range, small volume, light in weight, and so on. They attract public attention widely since appearance. With the deepening of the study, the request of the moderate highly-precision and highly-stability of FOG has been enhanced. But when the ambient temperature changes, the bias has reduced the gyro's precision, which has been seriously affected its application in the navigation system. This dissertation studies the technique of modeling and compensating for temperature-induced drift in FOG.Firstly, the paper analyzes the principle of the FOG, then analyzes and generalizes the performance index of FOG, which establishes a full index system.Secondly, the main error resources of FOG and how to resolve them are brought forward, and then the thermal property of the main opticators of FOG is analyzed, which makes clear the main factor of temperature-induced drift in FOG.Thirdly, the whole temperature characteristic of FOG is studied by experiments. Based on the theoretical analysis, a great deal of experiments has been done in order to build the temperature model of FOG.At last, the technique of modeling and compensating for the temperature drift of FOG is studied. The application of least squares polynomial approximation method is summarized. According to the model of temperature drift, the experimental data has been built. The problem of model order has been researched from several aspects, and the compensation model is built properly. The experimental results show that, this method has the characteristic of improving the bias of FOG, which adapt for engineering application.
