Under the condition of modern war, the airborne weapon system not only requires high precision and long distance, but also has the ability of working under the hard conditions day and night. The real war has proved that if we combined the airborne opto-electric instrument which scan, capture, recognize the object and the other sensors such as the millimeter wave radar and the high precision navigation system. We can fill the requirement of battlefield. The opto-electric instrument is mounted on the stabilized platform. The swinging from the carrier is isolated by the gyro stabilized platform, and it will get a environment which is stabilized relative to the inertial space. And it will realize searching, capture, tracking and orientating function to the object under the control command. So the airborne opto-electric stabilized platform has two functions: to realize the space stabilization, and to track the object.At first, a brief introduction of structure and method of stabilization and the survey of development of Airborne Opto-Electronic Platform in the world are summarized in this paper. Common controlling methods of stabilization and tracking are put forward. And then, the principal of how movement of airplane can be isolated by a two-axis-platform is analyzed theoretically. After this the arithmetic model is built and the simulation of control system is done by using MATLAB. It provides the basis of theory for designing servo system. Aiming at the difficulty that there are pure long time delays of tracking error of TV tracker and Infrared tracker, we can get the result that the lower the cutoff frequency of open loop and the tracking precision are reduced. To overcome the bad effect of long delays, a prediction and compensation method based on Kalman filter is given. At last the paper give the hardware and software realization of the computer system. The hardware system adopts the ARM as the processor, and the operating system is the embedded RTOS-μC/OSII.
