The air spring is one kind of non-metallic spring, which uses the condensability of the air in the flexible closed container to achieve the elasticity function. It has the good elastic characteristic, and has been used in the suspension of the vehicle to improve the comfort of traveling. Therefore, the air spring obtains the widespread application on the commercial vehicle.In this article, the research object is the air spring which produces by the Guizhou advance rubber limited company. The composition of air spring, the capsule material and the model of the structure are introduced and the characteristic of the air spring is analyzed in this paper. Moreover, this article also theoretically analyses the vertical characteristic and transverse characteristic, and obtains the influencing factor of the air spring stiffness characteristic.On the basis of the theoretical analysis, this article analyzes vertical and transverse of the lateral characteristics of the air spring which is produced by Guizhou advance rubber limited company by MSC. Marc non-linear finite element analysis software . In the course of modeling for air spring, the detailed finite element analysis are carried on, aiming at the selection of the rubber model and the assignment of the material parameter, the simulation of the fabric angles, the simulation of the gas unit, as well as the contact between the air spring and the up and down cover plate. In the course of analyzing the vertical characteristic and transverse characteristic of the air spring, if the fabric angles, fabric spacing, fabric density, fabric layers and inner pressures are changed, how the vertical and transverse characteristic of the air spring are changed are mainly discussed. Through the result contrast of the air spring characteristics test and the finite element analysis simulation, this article proves the correctness of the finite element model of the air spring which is built by MSC. Marc.This project provides the theoretical and implemental foundation for the design of automotive air suspension and developing of air springs.
