Air spring is one of the key components of air suspension and widely used in the commercial vehicles and high speed passenger vehicles. In order to study the influence of air springs on the vehicle performances, it is important to analyze the characteristics of air spring, especially the vertical stiffness characteristic. In this paper, using nonlinear finite element analysis software ADINA, the static characteristic FEA model of the rolling lobe air spring produced by GuiZhou QianJin Rubber CO., LTD is built. All possible parameters affecting rolling lobe air spring's vertical stiffness characteristic are deeply discussed. The effects of the different inner pressures, fabric angles and fabric layers in the analysis of static characteristic to the vertical stiffness are considered. In conclusion, the static characteristic FEA model of the air spring using ADINA is correct. This project provides the theoretical and implemental basis for the design of automotive air suspension and developing of air springs.
