Research On The Powder Fuel Feed System For Powdered Fuel Ramjets

As the first choice of a super-sonic propulsion system, ramjets are widely used in military and aerospace. The Powdered Fuel Ramjet appears as a new field of ramjets, using metal powder as fuel. It provides many advantages, such as higher specific impulse, safer storage, aging-resistant, flow control and repeatable initiate. Being an important part of the Powdered Fuel Ramjet, the Powder Fuel Feed System has a notable effect on the performance of the combustion chamber and the Powdered Fuel Ramjet.A research on the Powder Fuel Feed System is conducted, involving the theoretical analysis, the experiment and numerical simulations of the flow field.Based on the gas transport theory, a design of the Powder Fuel Feed System is made.With the experiment of the Powder Fuel Feed System, characters of the flow field are attained, and the feasibility of the Powder Fuel Feed System is proved. A control program of the motor is developed.The flow field of the Powder Fuel Feed System is simplified without changing its characters. And a new calculation model is built based on normal multiple-phase models.Numerical simulations with different solid-gas mixing ratios, particle diameters and structural parameters are made. Their effects on the two-phase flow field are investigated.
