In home and abroad, many engineer practices had manifested the high limit liquid soil roadbeds in rainy areas often were destroyed, the phenomenon were cracks, bulges, settlement, and so on. Specifications for design of highway subgrades (JTG D30-2004) have regulated strictly as follow: The high limit liquid soil can't use for the roadbed directly, if be used for roadbed, some measures must be carried out. In south of China, especially in Guanxi province, plenty of high limit liquid soil existed, so how to utilize high limit liquid soil become a very important problem. This paper summarized the relative study, carry out a lot of experiments on high limit liquid soil of Nanning. The experiment include physics and mechanics experiments; high limit liquid soil long-term stable experiments under different initial water-content and different compacted energy, then compacted with red clay; for high limit liquid soil that cann't reinforced by physical method, the lime was added. The lime reinforced high limit liquid soil was carried out long-term stable experiments under different initial water-content. The results found for high limit liquid soil, when initial water-content was more than the optimum water-content by 2% the CBR and swelling capacity were at an optimum stage; the added energy has no affect on high limit liquid soil; red clay could been used for down embankment; for the reinforced soil, the CBR was at a high stage when water between 20-24%, but for the brittle of reinforced soil, the initial water must control in the range of 22-24%.The conclusions of long-term stable experiments in this paper study would guide the construction of the high liquid limit soil roadbed, especially in south of China rainy areas.
