In recent years, cement stabilized soil used as base and sub-base in bituminous pavement of high volume highway has become a main kind of pavement structure type in our country. Meanwhile, for its high workability and notable economic benefits, cement stabilized soil was widely applied on the main trunks, branch trunks and village roads. For the shrink performance of cement stabilized soil, dry-shrinkage and temperature-shrinkage often happened during the stage of highway business. As a result, cracks occurred in semi-rigid base usually and had a serious influence on service life of semi-rigidity bituminous pavement.As an industrial waste slag,steel slag has been widely used in highway construction gradually. Steel slag applied in road engineering safely and economically not only reduce the environment pollution from steel slag, protect the ecological environment, reduce project construction cost, bring economic and social benefits, but also can make use of the expansion property of steel slag to reduce the shrink of base and sub-base, enhance the applicable property of semi-rigidity bituminous pavement with cement stabilized soil.This paper take the steel slag in steel slag company of Ma An Shan as research object, on the way of systematical experiment, author add some appropriate small steel slag instead of some soil in cement stabilized soil, and then analyzed the change of unconfirmed compressive strength of mixture, splitting tensile strength, modulus of compressive resilience, aridity resistance property and temperature contraction property. Results are as follows:Adding appropriate small steel slag instead of some soil in cement stabilized soil made unconfirmed compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and modulus of compressive resilience enhanced obviously. The scope is between 30% to 150%.Increase the scale of small steel slag, the unconfirmed compressive strength and splitting tensile strength of mixture first increased then fall down. At the form stage(before 28d)of strength, the strength was the biggest when scale is 20%; at the later period, the strength became biggest when scale is 40%. In a word, when the scale was between 20% to 40%, the strength became the strongest.Adding appropriate small steel slag instead of some soil in cement stabilized soil enhanced the aridity resistance property and temperature contraction property of cement stabilized soil obviously. The strain coefficient of aridity resistance property fall down as the scale of steel slag increased. With the scale increasing of steel slag, the coefficient of temperature contraction property first fall down then increased, and became biggest when the scale reach 20%. The scale of steel slag takes a main effect on shrink property while the influence from cement scale is negligible.The discussion and analysis about the engineering application, economic and social benefits of cement stabilized soil in this paper was in order to make some help in promoting and appling this kind of material.
