The Elevator Group Control System is a system that manages three or more elevators to increase the service for passengers and reduce the cost such as the power consumption of the elevators. Now most of the Elevator Group Control Systems used'hall call assignment method'. According to this method, the Elevator Group Control System assigns the elevator by evaluating the traffic mode to select the most appropriate elevator. After evaluating most of the current elevator group control algorithms, we propose an algorithm based on fuzzy algorithms and empirical parameters in this thesis. This algorithm will use different group control strategy by recognizing different passenger traffic patterns. In this thesis, we firstly describe the improved algorithm using Matlab. Then we validate the algorithm with modeled data in Matlab simulation. The simulation result shows that this algorithm is more suitable for the building which has more complex traffic mode comparing with the algorithm which is just based on fuzzy algorithms. In this thesis, we also explore to apply this algorithm to FPGA. This algorithm is described again in C language. The C program is later converted into a binary compatible with a MicroBlaze soft IP core on a Xilinx VirtexII Pro development board. After debugging on the FPGA board, we obtain the result that agrees with the earlier simulation result obtained with Matlab.
