The development of the reticulated dome structure is contacted closely with the development of the construction material and the calculation theory. With the progress of analyzing tools and analyzing method, its total trend is that the span is bigger and bigger, and the thickness is thinner and thinner. The large span, the thin thickness and the light weight can be regarded as the result of structure optimization design, but the stability problem this result has caused can't be ignored more and more. Now static stability questions about such structures have been largely settled, however, research on seismic behaviors of reticulated domes is not enough. The nonlinear dynamic behavior of double-layer reticulated domes under earthquake excitation is discussed here, and both geometrical non-linearity and elastic-plastic is considered. Practical judgment criteria and several characteristic response targets are formulated, and non-linear time history analysis, the failure character and the failure rules are studied by investigating curves of several characteristic response targets verifying with the increase of earthquake. Based on the above-mentioned,several aspects as follows are studied:(1)Elastic-plastic dynamic stability behaviors of domes under horizontal, vertical and three dimensional EL-Centro wave are investigated respectively. And the effect of rise to span ratio has also been considered.(2)The snow load and the ash load maybe go non-symmetry, so it is studied that the influence of non-symmetry live loads to the calculation results.(3)The double-layer reticulated domes in practical have various kinds of initial imperfections unavoidably, so it is discussed here that the influence of different initial geometry imperfection to the calculation results.(4)When studying the dynamic stability behavior of double-layer reticulated domes, the amplitude of acceleration of the earthquake record should be changed constantly in order to gain the relatively accurate dynamic stability critical load of the structure. The calculating amount is very big, so it is very important to choose suitable earthquake record. It is discussed here that the influence of different earthquake waves to the calculation results.
