The structure of traditional ferromagnetic transducers has several drawbacks that cannot be solved. In that case, considerable interest has been paid to the electronic transducers, which are based on computer and optical technology. With the improvement of the theory and technology, the electronic transducers have been used in power system gradually. The electronic transducers become the most promising transducers, which will take the place of the traditional ferromagnetic transducers in the future. Meanwhile, with the development of power system,the capability of power system is becoming larger and the voltage level is becoming higher, which facilitate the development of microcomputer protection technology. Now, the hardware platform of the microcomputer protection device is becoming universal, platform-based and more reliable.The thesis introduces the development of the electronic transducers and describes the structure and the working principle of the mainstream electronic transducers. Then the design of networked hardware platform based on CAN bus for microcomputer protection device interfacing with electronic transducers is brought forward. Inside of the microcomputer protection device, the protection module, MMI module, communication module, switch-in module, switch-out module, etc are designed as intelligent modules, which contain CPU inside.The ethernet is the communication interface of the merging unit (MU) of the electronic transducers and the microcomputer protection device. The 10M ethernet control chip CS8900A is used to accomplish the Ethernet interface. The design is proved to be simple and reliable through certain tests.DSP/BIOS is a kind of real-time operation system, which is specially designed for TMS320XX DSP by Texas Instrument Company (TI). In order to improve the real-time performance of the microcomputer protection device, the software is designed on the platform of DSP/BIOS.To improve the anti-interference ability of the microcomputer protection device, the thesis analyses the source of the interference to the microcomputer device and the solution to improving the anti-interference ability is given.The design of the networked hardware platform for microcomputer protection based on CAN bus improves the reliability and anti-interference ability of the microcomputer protection device greatly, which makes the hardware platform-based and universal possible. With the development of the computer and communication technology, the cost of hardware will be reduced significantly. Meanwhile, the properties and the reliability will be much better, which make the massive industrialization possible.
