In this thesis, the function, structure form and design calculating acquirement of the rolling cylinder dryer which is used to dry CTA in the PTA device was summarized. And the application of FEM in the heat-transfer and construction calculation was introduced.Utilizing the ANSYS software, the 3-D finite element model of one CTA dryer was built and calculated. According to calculating the heat-transfer of the partial model, the whole temperature and heat stress distribution was gained. Then the stress strength and displacement under four load cases were discussed and the most important facts and dangerous case modes influencing the dryer strength were confirmed. As well as, the essay contrasted with the whole stress strength under different thicknesses of the dryer.Discussion about the influence because of Poisson effect causing by the tube pressure was showed in this article. After discussing the stiffness differences between the simplified non-pored equivalent and actual fenestrated tube-sheet, simplified principle and the required correction of the calculation result by FEM, it is rational to using the computing result of the simplified finite element beam and shell model.Comparing the stiffness and strength calculation results of this dryer by the FME with using the traditional design criterion; the deficiency by using the traditional design criterion was point out.The calculated results and the analysis conclusions in this thesis can be referenced for the design of this kind of dryer.
