Along with the the opening of power market and the practice of time-varying electricity price policy, the role of reservoirs in the electric power system becomes more and more important, optimization criteria of maximum of power output is not so practical now. In order to fully utilize water resources and promote economic benefits of hydroelectric plants, it is of great theoretical and practical importance to reserch on reservoir optimal operation based on time-varying electricity price.Based on summarizing the existing study results in related domain, deeply analyzing the theories of time-varying electricity price. In this paper, optimization models are established and calculated on the basic of combinning the theories of time-varying electricity price and the deterministic optimum reservoir operation. In order to overcome the deterministic optimum reservoir operation limitation, the projects of different hydrology frequencies,year-start levels and year-end levels were taken into analysis, make it more operational. Major content is as follows:Firstly, comprehensively analyzing the current situation of water resources in our country, while the necessity of research dispatching optimization of reservoir based on time-varying electricity price is point out, and research the trend in the respect of dispatching optimization of reservoir at home and abroad are analyzed and summarized.Secondly, Discussing the theories of time-varying electricity price and the dispatching optimization of reservoir, while, base on the main purpose of practicing DSM, a reasonable method of division of peak-valley time period is put out, and then the model of time-varying electricity price is set up.Thirdly, Researching the factor of the dispatching optimization of reservoir on time-varying electricity price, base on the theories, the generic dispatching optimization of reservoir model and the model of dispatching optimization of reservoir based on time-varying electricity price are set up. Deeply analyzing the dynamic programming method using in the dispatching optimization of reservoir, while a procedure flow chart of modeling is presented; finally, improvement programs of reservoir dispatching optimization is put out.Fourthly, Taking Ma Du Shan reservoir as an example, Use the two models start operation dispatch, which is solved by using forward recursive method of dynamic programming,and to analyze and compare between the results of the two models. at last, the projects of different hydrology frequencies,year-start levels and year-end levels were taken into analysis, the results is adequated for variation of coming flow.Finally, The major achievements in this paper are summed up, while pointing out the orientation of further study.
