In recent years, with rapid development of modern industry and prevalence of electronic equipments, harmonic pollution which is harmful to power equipment operation is more and more serious and has influenced quality of electric power. So, it is inevitable to control harmonic in power system, where the harmonic measurement is the important step.Firstly, the basic principles about harmonic were discussed and the present situation and development trends in harmonic measurement field were described in this paper. Then different methods of harmonic measurement were introduced and their advantages and disadvantages were analyzed respectively.Secondly, the principle of instantaneous reactive power theory was systematicly introduced and their parameters were detailedly analyzed. According to these above, p-q theory and ip-iq theory were studied and their operation conditions were analyzed. It was continued with a profound discussion of problems in ip-iq theory and their corresponding improvements. In order to validate the correctness in the instantaneous reactive power theory, the models of harmonic measurement system and shunt active power filter were set up by MATLAB / SIMULIK simulation results and frequency analyses were given in this paper.Finally, both of the software and the hardware design of harmonic instruction operation circuit system were given , where DSP TMS320F240 was served as the control core.
