Study On Preparation Of Crack Sealing Material For Asphalt Pavement

Crack is one of the most important diseases which happening on the road.Too much manpower and material resources will be used by traditional method which can not ensure the good sealing performance. It is very valuable and meaningfully to develop crack sealing material for road maintaining and repairing, which can repair the road quickly and cheaply。New modified emulsified asphalt which uses PDO as modifier has been studied. On the background of researches inside and outside country, the performance of the modified emulsified asphalt and modified emulsified asphalt mixture with several PDO content were studied.The optimum addition of PDO is 2.75%. The strength of modified emulsified asphalt is suitable for using on road.The property of the emulsified asphalt and modified emulsified asphalt mixture resistance to aging was studied. The performance of resistance to aging was enhanced by CBO which was selected though experiments.The optimum addition of CBO is 100/1.2.The result shows that the PDO and CBO can improve about 50% of emulsified asphalt's performance of resistance to aging.SEM microscopy was adopted to analyze the structure of solidified PDO and the mix mechanism of PDO modified emsified asphalt and the form of destruction after ageing process. The conclusion provides the evaluation for the use of PDO.Modified emulsified asphalt enlarged the serviceable range of emulsified asphalt. Crack sealing material can either used to seal the crack directly or to mix asphalt mixture.
