The trend of “high speed, heavy flow, overloading, channelization” for moderntransportation in our country proposes severe challenges for bonding layers betweendifferent structure layers. Existing bonding layer materials show deficiency in the shearstrength and tensile strength, and also in the ability of water damage resistance and fatigueresistance. To address the weakness of bonding layer materials, the paper prepares SBS andSBR modified emulsified asphalt, and carries out the research on technical indexes andbond performance of them so as to recommend the better bonding layer materials throughcomparative analysis. The paper prepares SBS and SBR modified emulsified asphalt successfully startingfrom emulsification mechanism and demulsification mechanism of emulsified asphalt, andconducts the research on four kinds of modified emulsified asphalt, analyzes the technicalperformance of each based on standard viscosity,5days storage stability, technical indexesof emulsified asphalt evaporation residue and submicroscopic structure observed fromfluoreascence microscope. The bond performance of four kinds of modified emulsified asphalt is studied throughthe direct shear test and drawing test for bonding layer, and the effect of different factors onthe bond performance of four kinds of modified emulsified asphalt is analyzed, and also thecomparative analysis of four kinds of modified emulsified asphalt is carried out. The paperalso studies the water damage resistance of the four kinds through analyzing the effect ofwater on bond performance of the four kinds of modified emulsified asphalt with theimmersion direct shear test and the immersion drawing test. The paper concludes that SBSmodified emulsified asphalt has the better bond performance and ability of water damageresistance compared with SBR modified emulsified asphalt.
