With quick development of the economy as well as the requirement for energy conservation and high efficiency, the industry of flow measurement is becoming an important one which affects the development of society and economy. Flow measurement is widely used in agricultural production, defense construction, scientific research, external transaction and people's life. And among all the flow meters, positive-displacement flow meters are the most accurate ones used to measure the total capacity volume of expensive medium such as oil and natural gas. So the research on positive-displacement flow meters is of great significance. In the flow meters, rotors serve as the most important parts. Thus, the design and manufacturing of rotors play a great impact on the development level of positive-displacement flow meters. And this paper mainly focuses on the parameterized design, simulation and manufacturing of rotors as well as the CAD/CAM integration method. In sum, this paper is organized as follows.1. The measurement principle, structure and types of positive-displacement flow meters are introduced at first. Then, the design and manufacturing method of elliptical gears, roots and helical rotors are discussed in detail. As to the numerical control manufacturing of elliptical gears, the interpolation method of cubic spline is studied. Meanwhile, in order to improve the measurement accuracy of micro flow, the design and manufacturing of novel radial elliptical gears are researched. And as to the helical rotors, the method of manufacturing helical rotors using standard ball cutter is expounded in this paper.2. The CAD/CAM integration system of rotors based on Pro/E is developed in this paper, and this integration system has the self-dominated intellectual property right. Specifically, the integration system is developed by using CAD and CAM technology as well as Pro/Toolkit, a kind of redevelopment tool offered by Pro/E.
