Based on modern excitation control system of synchronous generator prone to high stability and computer control, this thesis researches on switching mode self-excited excitation control system, digital signal processor (DSP) TMS320F2407A made by TI is our digital excitation control chip. According to theory analysis and interrelated literature, this thesis designs main circuit and control circuit of the excitation control system, gives the theory basis on component parameter. It designs the hardware and software of excitation regulator.This thesis analyzes work principium of switching mode excitation system and analyzes its merit compared with tradition excitation system. Main loop of switching mode excitation is designed, the component parameters are chosen and simulation is done to analyze its correctness. Protection and drive circuit of IGBT, demagnetization loop are investigated. It designs hardware control circuit of excitation regulator, including input and output adjustor circuit, frequency detection circuit, keyboard and LCD interface circuit, SCI circuit etc.The software is programmed under the developing environment of CCS2.0 (Code Composer Studio) produced by TI company. It is functional and blocking. Because of blocking design, software of excitation regulator is easy to debug and upgrade.This thesis founds single-machine-infinite-bus including excitation system. Two control modes are simulated. Simulation results the indication: linearity optimize controller is better on control effect than the other. Grey prediction excitation control system has been molded. Simulation results show that when added to the traditional excitation system for synchronous generator, even with PSS installed, the proposed grey prediction control can obviously improve the stability of power system under small or severe disturbance. The simulation results are valuable reference information application to excitation control.
