Virtual Manufacturing will become the main Manufacturing technology in the future. In the Virtual Environment, the person can observe, evaluate, modify the manufacturing process, reducing the time of program modification online and trial cut, test and vertify the feasibility of program modification, reduceing the experimental expenses, and providing fundamental basic for developing special equipment. The core technology of virtual manufacturing is the model building and emulating.The study of worm gear base on the differential geometry and the meshing theory,while the deduce process is too difficult to master by the engineer. Based on the SolidWorks , used the VB, utilized the method and property of API,we develop the system of the simulation manufacturing and evaluation of mismatched worm gear for the engineer.we use the direct solid mold to realize Virtual Manufacturing in SolidWorks.When simulating Manufacturing ,the worm gear blank was fixed, the cutter not only revolute around the axis of itself but also revolute around the axis of the worm gear,put the cutter in the different place, Boolean calculation of reduce between the enveloping solid of the cutter and the worm gear blank,the blank model was replace with the Boolean calculation.Because it is same that the expression of the model and part,the result about virtual manufacturing and the reality manufacturing was match.The designer can simulate the manufacturing process of worm gear by using the computer,and assemble the worm wheel and worm, utlize the sectional view to research the meshing condition of the worm wheel and worm, and evaluate the rationality of the manufacturing process, two parameter need be adjusted :The first parameter is corner dimension between the axis of worm wheel and wormφ; the second parameter is the center distance between worm wheel and worm S . adjusting two parameter each other to search the best parameter of the manufacturing process, at the same time the sectional view provide fundamental basic for lubricate and stress analysis.This system is a new way to study the mismatch worm gear, at the same time add the new theory of the worm gear, it has the preliminary result in real productive activity.
