This paper studies landslide hazard in DaShixia, the reservoir of hydroelectric power in the Kumalake River of Xinjiang. The type of the bank of the reservoir is banding gorge. The mountains of both banks are highly precipitous and abruptly tremendous. The topography of river valley is dangerously steep. It is uninhabited, and the traffic is inconvenient. Based on the complicated geography and geological conditions of the studying area, landslide about the most serious stability destruction of bank of the reservoir is surveyed and estimated by remote sensing and GIS technology.Combining the actual conditions of the study area, embarking from source data of remote sensing, extracting information of landslide hazard, analyzing the sensitive factors about landslide, and asking for the relative weight of every factor according to AHP analytic approach, it estimates and analyzes the sensitive prediction to landslide hazard in the study district. Using RS and GIS technology, it explores a technological route and method system to research the landslide in DaShixia, the reservoir of hydroelectric power in the Kumalake River of Xinjiang, Some points of the paper as followed as:(1) The paper uses remote sensing data to interpret landslide 27 of the study area combining the survey in the field. Based on the different strength to the development landslide hazard in the study area, the paper acquires 5 factors about the slope (0.4394), geological structure (0.2621), river erosion (0.1662), stratum and lithology (0.0978), aspect (0.0344), and then determines the levels of the factor weights and sensitive appraisal map about landslide hazard in the study area.(2) Based on the different fatalness about landslide, this paper studies its spatial distribution rule in DaShixia, the reservoir of hydroelectric power in the Kumalake River of Xinjiang, by the sensitive appraisal abut landslide in the study area.(3) To geographical and geological environment in the study area, using RS data and topographic maps, the paper creates a working from data acquiring→remote sensing image processing→landslide information extraction→landslide factor analysis→landslide sensitive appraisal and analysis, based on RS and GIS. The method is useful to landslide investigation and appraisal in the reservoir of hydroelectric power, especially, to the landslide study in the large reservoir locating at difficult areas such as the dangerously steep, uninhabited, forest clouds.
