In this paper the concept of virtual instruments, the composition of LabVIEW and how they have been applied in engines testing. According to current equipment in laboratory, engine pressure acquisition and combustion analysis system are investigated. The system consists of engine cylinder acquisition and combustion analysis system. Engine cylinder pressure acquisition get the original data , The acquired data was processed by multiple- cycle data smoothness process, pressure drift correction, top dead center correction, etc. As a result ,the relate information abort the P-θcurve can be obtained such as pressure gradient, probability density and so on. The user can input parameter they needed。Base on these parameter and P-θcurve, they can get more information and do father research on.The virtual instrument have been tested by testing Toyota-8A engine the P-θcurve, the result showed that connecting virtual instruments with engines is feasible. The measure software is based on the technology of "Virtual Instrument" of National Instruments with software platform-LabVIEW. Comparing with the common program language, VI is more convenient and simpler, it can shorten the developing periods of the program in large scales. The combustion analysis system has the following advantages: high performance, low cost, easy to learn and manipulate, friendly user interface and high maintainability...
