With the increasing popularity of car, people have become more and more concerned about safe driving, where vehicle carrying information system plays a very important role. Now vehicle carrying information system has been listed into the project research guide of National Automotive Computing Platform.In China, the traditional vehicle carrying information system is based on 8 or 16 bit microcontroller core processing chip, whose processing capacity is very limited. As the rapid development of automotive technology, more and more information about the state of vehicle performance requires to be reflected. The original vehicle instrument has been unable to meet the requirements and feed back to drivers clearly in time. Embedded vehicle information system is thought to be a very good solution to this problem. Although it is on initial stage for domestic related studies, it holds broad space for development and market prospect, can inject new vitality for the development of China automobile industry, now has become the inevitable trend of vehicle carrying information system.According to the actuality of China vehicle carrying information system, the implementation scheme of vehicle carrying information system based on uclinux is put forward in this paper. This system which adopts 32-bit chip microprocessor S3C44B0 and uclinux operating system as developing platform is more intelligent, flexible and has higher process capacity, can make the communication between people and car more simple and convenient.By analyzing the theory of embedded system, some comparisons are made among several different microprocessors and operating systems for embedded system, furthermore, uclinux operating system is introduced, accordingly the hardware and software development platform is confirmed, the whole design scheme of the system is advanced, and how to achieve an overall program of vehicle information system is introduced too. Vehicle information is collected through LIN and CAN bus, based on the management ofμclinux operating system, the key-press message and corresponding graphic display of vehicle information can be accessed using GUI, as a result, the vehicle information system becomes more intelligent, then a friendly interface between driver and car is constructed.The research shows that building embedded vehicle carrying information system based on uclinux is feasible, which can provide more friendly and simple vehicle carrying information interface, what's more, the software can be transplanted and tailored according to different hardware platforms. The research has innovation.
