As a fast and convenient, clean and efficient transportation in modern cities, the metro has been an important sign of the comprehensive national power, economic strength of a city, people's living standard and modernization. The metro train fault diagnosis system is a smart system to diagnose the train fault in a short time via direct interaction between human and machine when the vehicle is running, which is an indispensable component for safe operation of the modern metro. The Information Display Unit(IDU)is in the core of the interaction between the driver and the Board Diagnostics System, which displays the working condition, fault information and the devices state in real time to effectively direct the operation of the driver to guarantee the safety of the vehicle train.Based on the project of Domestication of Display Devices in Guangzhou Subway Line 2,this paper has been to discuss the application and realization of embedded Linux technic in display devices for the train state;to build the platform of this display devices on ARM framework from software and hardware;to apply open source Linux system successfully to ARM framework through system cutting and transplant;to analyze the logic of the IDU based on the need from users to categorize the display information and to organize the UI layout which is realized by Qt and QSqlite database;to design and realize the communication protocol between IDU and Vehicle Train Control Unit(VTCU)according to the network topology and operating mechanism of the diagnosis system in Guangzhou subway line 2;to test the functionalities of IDU by online debugging with the simulate host computer whose result demonstrates that the domesticated IDU meets the requirements of the safe operation of the vehicle train.
