Hydrazine decomposition thruster with canted nozzle is being more and more utilized in space propulsion system. The influence of canted nozzle on performance of thruster, such as specific impulse, lateral thrust etc., is always one of the problems that is concerned in the using of thruster with canted nozzle. In this paper, the performance of 150N hydrazine decomposition thruster with canted nozzle is investigated, and high-altitude simulation tests and calculations have being completed.In this paper, the influence of pressure and ammonia decomposition fraction on performance of decomposition chamber, and the effect of geometry in nozzle are two main points in the analyzing of the working process of hydrazine decomposition thruster. The facilities and methods of the high-altitude simulation tests are introduced. The test results of thrusters with canted nozzle at different angles are analyzed and compared. Calculations on the influence of pressure and ammonia decomposition fraction are completed in the same range of the chamber pressure in the firing tests. The results of the calculations on the nozzles with CFD software FLUENT6.2 are analyzed and compared with the tests.The conclusion about the influence of canted nozzle in this paper has been used in space projects.
