The construction of bridge is one of the most economic and efficient methods forovercoming the separation by the natural water body. At present, the bridge plays anirreplaceable role in national economic development. However, the bridge has broughta lot of negative effects while bringing convenience for people, such as the safety ofbridge itself, the influences for navigation and flood storage, all these should treatconscientiously in bridge design and construction, and the problem should be solvedproperly. The dynamic property of water condition is the important factor needing tobe considered while evaluating the flood prevention capabilities of the water relatedstructures. Hence, based on the analysis of hydrodynamics, this research is focused onevaluating the influences on channel flood storage while constructing a bridge in tidalreach.The flow around the pies is very complicated, always appears on thethree-dimensional characteristic. Therefore research on the flow characteristic on theriverbed near the pier becomes the difficult point while studying. In current literature,there are three kinds of approaches to analyze hydrodynamics: the analysis on riverbedevolution, numerical simulation calculation and physics model test. Based on theanalysis of survey hydrological data, the development of riverbed in current times,recent period and event in the future can be identified qualitatively in a holistic view,however it is difficult to quantitatively analyze in theory. The mathematics model andphysical model can quantitatively simulate natural river flow, among which themathematics model is calculated through the theory, and the physical model is basedon the experiment, they all have advantages and shortcomings while solving the actualproject problem. This research combines the advantages of the above three approaches, then basedon the project of the construction of Ningbo highway Yong river bridge, the influenceson riverbed routing are identified. The Surface water Modeling System (SMS)developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is applied to model the research area.Then based on the survey hydrological data, the model was calculated and the resultswas presented.
