Research For Traditional Architectural Creation Under Influence Of Chinese Ancient Life-Preserving Culture

From analyzing the relation among human, architecture and nature, and then educing the problem between architecture and human health is the basic one among the kinds of relation, this dissertation figures that the research for this basic problem will benefit the enhancement and enrichment of the content of current "healthy building", "green building", "ecological building" and "sustainable building". In Chinese ancient ages there were always both ideas of treasuring life and benefiting life, and practices of life-preserving (yangsheng), whereas the architectural environment for preserving life is an important part among them. Therefore, the research for traditional architectural creation under the ancient life-preserving cultural influence would help to deeply understand Chinese traditional architectural culture, summarize the past experience, and furthermore can provide apocalypse to the creation and research of the modern architecture.This dissertation draws lessons from methods within architecture, cultural sciences, ecology, logic, systemic method, philology, induction, deduction, statistics, analytical method etc., to set out to study the theory and behavior of architectural life-preserving, and site selecting, design, build and spirit of space of life-preserving architecture.This dissertation figures the phenomenon of architectural life-preserving culture is a widespread existence in Chinese various ancient architectural types. Each kind of phenomenon relates to the corresponding scale of colony, cultural character and goal of life-preserving. So when study Chinese architectural history and theory, we should pay attention to the position and function of architecture in the ancients' life-preserving practices, and go deep in to know the contribution from all kinds of life-preserving theories-especially Taoism-to the traditional architectural theory.This dissertation primarily obtains the basic principles and methods of traditional architectural creation at aspects of site selecting, design, building technology and spirit of space, and then emphasizes the points to achieve environmental life-preserving of "chengshengqi" and "zhizhonghe". Moreover, taking "Laolaohengyan", by Caotingdong, Qing Dynasty as an example, the author arranges and reveals the ancients' knowledge of architectural life-preserving and details of construction. In chapter 5, the author briefly discusses the spirit of space in the life-preserving architecture among Chinese Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.In the conclusion, the author explains the further meaning and apocalypse to modern architecture about "adjusting to nature", "territorial property" and "people foremost" in traditional architecture, and affirms that it is necessary to establish a new disciplinal branch-life-preserving architecture.
