The mating and working performances of machining part, especially as wear resisting property, lubricating ability and fatigue resistance, are great affected by the surface topography. So it's very important to evaluating the topography reasonable. Higher machining precision and service performance are required along with the developing of industry, so evaluation surface topography rationally in three-dimension is needed.After studying the present 2D and 3D evaluation methods, the ideal models of typical surfaces are established. The 3D parameters of the surfaces are caculated by the evaluating software. The analytic results proof the rationality and effectivity of the 3D parameters.JB-4C 3D roughness measuring apparatus is used to collect data of surface. Standard roughness comparing samples and glass sample are taken as experiment swatch. 3D parameters are calculated and outputted by the software. By analyzing the results, four parameters, Sq, Ssk, Sâ–³q and Sbi, are defined as the basic parameter group for evaluating three-dimension topography.Right boring and platform honing cylinder liners are researched as application objects in the last section. The analytical and the experimental results indicate that the inner surface of right boring cylinder liner is much rougher than the platform honing's. And the bearing performance and wear resisting property of right boring are worse. New and wear out platform honing cylinder liners are also analyzed and compared. The fitted 3D surfaces display that the screens of the honing cylinder liner are even and clear, and the included angle is reasonable. The function parameters Sbi and Svi of wear out cylinder liners are larger than those of new ones, but Sci is smaller. These indicate the wear out ones have better bearing performance and wear resisting property. The analysis accords with the true service performance, so it's possible to evaluation platform honing cylinder liners with these parameters.
