Periodic fluctuation of reservoir water resulting in riparian zone is one of theenvironmental problems followed by large reservoir construction. Riparian zone is aspecial area of submerged land which appears seasonally because of water level fluctuation.There are plentiful international and domestic researches about damaged ecosystem ofriparian zone. However, further studies on the restoration of these ecosystem are needed.Basing on ideas of landscape and systematic ecology, this study dissertatestheoretically on the relevant concepts of riparian zone and landscape ecology planning,research contents and methods of riparian zone, criterion of riparian health estimation.Furthermore, basic principles, process and development of landscape ecology planning,and landscape ecological pattern are also involved in the dissertation. I analyzed thedifferences and relations between ecological planning and landscape ecological design, andexpatiated both international and domestic technologies and methodologies on restorationand reconstruction of riparian zone. I introduced the theoretics and techniques of damagedecosystem restoration and reconstruction into landscape planning to optimize theman-made landscape ecological pattern, finally, in order to achieve the aims of lacustrinelandscape stabilization and land sustained usage. I took the riparian zone of Fall Valleywater power station of Hanyuan New County as a case to analyze its environmentalcondition, actuality and characteristics particularly. According to hydrological data andhabitat demands of amphiphyte, I partitioned the riparian zone and designed landscapepattern based on the theoretics of landscape ecological pattern. Under the instruction oftheoretical system and principles of landscape ecology planning, I proposed astructure-optimizing planning program with a combination of biology and engineering.The landscape ecology planning of riparian zone in Hanyuan County wasaccomplished from fundamental aims to function, pattern and management. An effectiveoptimized buffer mode of riparian zone was stimulated by researching and analyzing thoseamphiphyte with biological control methods. Thus, a healthy and sound riparian ecosystemwas achieved by optimizing landscape pattern design. This design provides instructivesignificance to the construction and management of riparian zone of Hanyuan New County, and offers bases and advice on sustained development of the county. This design can alsobe a reference for the riparian zone construction ofxerothermic valley.
