The diesel engine is the power source of locomotive, so the design and the quality affect the whole performance of locomotive. To improve the quality of the engine, the research and optimization of the diesel engine body's manufacture technology was carried out, so as to satisfy the requirements of increasing speed. That will have the more important significance.The investigation and optimization of the body's product technology was done mainly by three ways: Firstly, through the statistic analysis of the body's oil leaks data, the important position was defined and the problem through improving technology method was solved. Secondly, for the question of body's crack, the category of the cracking and the causes of its occurrence were analyzed. The stress concentration in the part of welded structure of the body results in cracking when the stress born exceeds the fatigue resistance of the material. The bearing stress of the diesel engine's body is the plus of working stress and residual stress (including welding stress, progress stress and structure stress). The working stress is the one that is produced in the body during working, which is invariable. The residual stress is determined by the technology and body's structure, which can be changed by the optimization of technology and design. Based on the above analysis, we can come to the conclusion that: the crack was avoided and the quality of the body was improved through the residual stress measure test, the production technology optimization of the main process of the body, the symmetrical welding, and adopting the Vibratory Stress Relief Method (VSR) as the second aging treatment for the worked body and so on. Thirdly, according to qualification of welding procedure for Q345 steel plate, the proper welding technology was determined.After the optimization of the body's manufacture technology, we find that the phenomenon of oil leaks has been disappeared, the problem for the cracking can be solved effectively and the body's quality in motion is improved obviously.
