Experiment Study Of High-Viscosity Base Asphalt And Asphalt Mixture

Asphalt pavement has been applied more and more extensive in the pavement structure, with the characters of ride quality, quickly construction speed, convenience maintenance,etc. however, our country has broad region, with various climate and complex transportation conditional,which results the asphalt pavements appear different degree of forepart dilapidation in the operation process, especially in southern hot and damp region,even appear high temperature stability and water damage badly, including rut, upheaval, cutting-slippage, pot holes, pumping and netting crack.The chiefly problemy is how to raise the asphalt pavements of high temperature stability and anti-water damage ability in southern hot and damp region.The paper put forward a material -- high viscosity base asphalt, high viscosity groundmass asphalt has some visual features: biggish sliminess, lesser penetration degree and a little hard .It is not modified asphalt after adding any additive .It also can be called low-grade pitch(sorted by penetration degree) or hard pitch whose penetration degree is commonly only 20-50(0.1 mm). The author analyses the high temperature stability, water stability , cracking resistance at low temperature ,fatigue property and mechanics performance between high viscosity base asphalt mixture,asphalt mixture for paving heavy traffic road and SBS modified asphalt mixture by general comparative study , Through this comparatively experimental study, it appears that high viscosity base asphalt has the character of high viscosity,low penetration. The mixture has properties of high intensity,high module,perfect high temperature performance,water stability,anti-fatigue property, which can largely evaluate asphalt pavement usage function in south area. So it can bring fine social and economic benefit.Through this will provide some experimental basis for the popularization and application of high viscosity groundmass pitchy, also providing a kind of new way of thinking and the method of solving problem the asphalt pavement construct engineering for high grade highway in southern hot and damp region.
