Reticulated shell is one of the earliest and the most widely applied space structures in our country. In this paper, in order to understand the mechanical behavior of large-span single-layer ellipsoid reticulated shell with elastic support by experiment and to observe its response under seismic waves, and observe the damage mode of the concrete support, shaking table experiment of single-layer ellipsoid reticulated shell with its concrete support was carried out. As such a complicated shaking table experiment, the work performed in the paper is unwonted in China and has some reference value.The following contents are presented in this paper:1. T he design and produce of the experiment model. The actual modal of the shell was simplified first, and then designed and produced to experiment model according to comparability principle.2. Shaking table experiment of single-layer ellipsoid reticulated shell was carried out. The free vibration property (such as the nature vibration frequencies, then natural vibration modes, the damping factors etc.) of the model was measured. The response of the shells due to small, middle and large seismic waves was observed. The response feature of the c shell and the difference between structural responses under different seismic waves were obtained. The damage situation of the concrete support was observed.3. Comparison between the results calculated by SAP2000 and the experimental results. The correction of the experiment results was proved. And on the other hand, performing numerical dynamic analysis by SAP2000 was also feasible. The shaking table experiment in the paper has some reference value.4. The influence on the dynamic performance of the shell from the concrete support was analyzed by calculation.In the finality, the problems requiring further studies are discussed.
