Ellipsoid reticulated shell has been extensively applied in practical engineeringbecause of its novel structure form, the graceful overall shape, stretch form and savingspace etc. The majority top structure of auditoria, gymnasiums and showplaces arelonger longitudinal length and shorter transverse length in the practical engineering.Ellipsoid reticulated shells possess the above characteristic. Performance of single-layerellipsoid reticulated shell is studied based on the above demand in this paper.This paper will put ellipsoidal surface equation into ANSYS, and combining withAPDL parametric language to set up models of Lamella and Lamella-Kewittesingle-layer ellipsoid reticulated shell, then analyze the static behavior and stability ofthese models.First, change the parameters of short span length and rise-span ratio, to find out thechange trend of the types of ellipsoid reticulated shell’s element internal force anddisplacement of nodes respectively, summarizes the deformation law.Second, the eigenvalue buckling analysis of ellipsoid reticulated shell is carried outin this paper, and it makes discussion on the effect of different short-span length andrise-span ratios on the buckling modes and eigenvalue.Third, the geometric non-linear of ellipsoid reticulated shell is analyzed, then thispaper studies the influence of load distribution and initial geometric defects on thestability of Lamella and Lamella-Kewitte single-layer elliptical reticulated shell, and therules of effect of factors are obtained.Finally, a summary is made on the similarities and differences of the staticbehavior and stability analysis of the different ellipsoid reticulated shells, which willprovide the theory basis for type selection and design of the ellipsoid reticulated shell.
