Steel structure strengthened by carbon fiber reinforced plastics(CFRP)plates or sheets can be used to make up for the lack of external ways by augmenting section, which can increase bearing capacity of structure and deadweight is not increased. It's better in felt capability with CFRP and steel plate to externally apply the strengthening method, in which limit bearing capacity is bigger then peel capacity.Therefor, peel capability is studied in this paper and theoretical basis is provided to strengthen steel structure with by CFRP.Single-side sheering experiment with CFRP and steel plate by orthogonal experimental design is studied on the basis of existing datum. The failure process and characteristics of bond test are described. Characteristic of the stress distribution, effective bond length and peel stress is discussed. The failure process and characteristics of bond test are described by results of the vertical tension bond test of steel plate and CFRP. And the effect on vertical bond strength of steel plate and CFRP caused by thickness of bond line, surface treating of steel plate are analyzed.Based on the tensile experiment of steel plate bonded with CFRP, the failure process and characteristics of tension test are analyzed.
