Riverway treatment is a traditional and pragmatical engineering of an ancient and active field. Since the 70s of last century, the relation between hydraulic engineering and river ecosystem has drew a lot of attention from the international scientific and technological field and has become a hot topic in enviromental field. People have made many analyses on the the bad effects of hydraulic engineering to river ecosystem from different viewpoints and have established the theory and engineering practice of river ecosystem recovery upon these analyses. The theory and practice of Ecological hydraulics came into being. Through the collections and studies of domestic and international application cases of ecological-hydraulic riverway treatment, the main ideas of this essay are as follows:This essay puts forth the urgency of the application of ecological hydraulics upon the present researches of the theories, methods and applications of domestic and international ecological hydralic engineering; it makes a summary of the bases, models and principles abode by the ecological hydralic riverway treatment; it states that the ecological hydraulic engineering theory should be applied in riverway treatment; it sums up several common methods of ecological riverway treatment: first, to construct ecological river banks with the aim of benefiting human beings; second, to construct rivers of biodiversity.
