Manufacturing Execution Systems is a recently defined category of industrial software for the job-shop environment. It is a real-time information system oriented to job-shop execution layer. Its key is to emphasize the optimization for the whole production process, keep the communication between planning layer and control layer, makes the information flowing be circulated efficiently, and the job-shop's dynamic instance be mastered momentarily by the enterprise's supervisor. Nowadays, it has been adopted in a number of discrete, batch and continuous process manufacturing industries, and improves those performances evidently.In this paper, the author introduced the background, purpose and significance of the research firstly, and the development history of the Computer Aided Production Management and the MES technology was reviewed. With the actuality of the MES application in domestic and abroad, the importance of this research was expatiated.Secondly, based on the project in Guangdong KEDA, author introduced the job-shop actuality in discrete productions, gave the construction principles, the structure and the data transmission of the MES, designed and developed the KEDA-MES system.Thirdly, based on the project in JAC, author introduced the assembly manufacturing industries actuality, and the application of MES in the s automobile fitting shop. At the end of this chapter, author introduced the JAC-MES system which was developed by HUST.For the more, the intelligentized planning and scheduling technology was introduced, and a Multi-level optimizing heuristic arithmetic is designed for settling this problem in this article. Some calculating examples are used to test the feasibility and the validity of this algorithm.
