The protection relay is a very important instrument for the secure operation of power grids, whose correct action lies on the setting results.However, more and more companies produce protection devices with the development of reforms in economic system of power market.The drastic competition between producers causes that the update of their products becomes more and more quickly as well as the replaceing of new protection devices, which brings the coordination software so much difficulty. This thesis researches on the self-defined relay device coordination system based on the characteristics of coordination of relay devices.This thesis makes an in-depth analysis of the power line relay devices and their principle, and concludes the characteristics of coordination and the actuality of present coordination softwares.In addition, the necessity and feasibility of self-defined coordination are discussed, and an idea of defining principle by the use of scripting language is brought forward.This thesis implements the self-defined relay device coordination system, whose main structure and detailed flow of coordination are circumstantiated, and some important problems for development are presented. This system realizes the self-defined function of basic information, principle and setting requisition of protection devices, so it can satisfy the flexibility and extensibility completely.This thesis implements the self-defining principle of protection devices by using the ActiveX Scripting technology, whose origin, structure and implement are circumstantiated. Furthermore, some illustrates are provided to explain the process and method of defining principle by use the scripting language.The self-defined relay device coordination system, which is developed on the basis of method provided in this thesis, has been applicated in the electric power dispatching and communication centers of provincial and distribution power grids. It is proved that this system designed in this thesis has good flexibility and extensibility.
