Multi-tower-connected high-rise building with enlarged base is a kind of complex structure system. Lower floors can be regarded as enlarged base, and upper structure includes more than two towers which linked with several spatial corridors to satisfy special functions and architecture demand. Multi-tower-connected structure with enlarged base (MTCS) is a new challenge to the high-rise building design. Because of the spatial couple defect caused by connections between the towers , its analysis model, dynamic characteristics, mechanics behavior and failure forms are more complex than the common high-rise buildings. The analysis model, dynamic behavior and the response under the wind action of the typical double-tower-connected structure with enlarged base (DTCS) are studied systematically in this paper. The investigations of this paper are as follows:1. The study of the classification and the calculation models on the MTCS system. On the basis of the structure classification, the adaptability of dynamic calculation models (such as series-parallel particle system model, series-parallel rigid-plate system model, three-dimensional finite-element model and continuous model)to different connected structures is studied.2. The static analysis of the DTCS under action of the lateral load(wind load). The internal force expressions under various conditions are derived and the characteristic of the response of the structure subjected to load and of load-transfer-road in the structure are analysed deeply. The main parameters influencing the internal force of the connection parts and towers are discussed and analysed under the statics.3. The study of the stiffness matrix and dynamic characteristics on the DTCS. Through the stiffness matrix analysis of the series-parallel connected rigid-plate model of the DTCS, the inherent cause of the translation-torsion couple existed in the structural system is discussed.4. The analysis is of wind induced response on DTCS. This paper introduced the expression of calculating fluctuating wind, then deduced the process of simulating fluctuating wind by WAWC, which based on random vibration theory, with concidering spatial correlation.5. This paper used finite structure-analysis software"ANSYS"to build a DTCS model and acted simulated wind load from three different direction and considering influence of the stiffness of the connected-corridor. Then the paper got the response of key nodes and analyzed the data particularly. The study in this paper provides the theory for the design of the DTCS on fluttering wind.
