With the faster development of the automobile industry, the quality requirements of automobile parts are even higher. Auto flanges are generally for automotive transmission. Since the flanges here are rotors, the imbalance of them should be low so that less vibration of the whole auto system comes out of flanges.This article introduces an automated outer-surface-milling dynamic balancing machine. The machine can be easily applied to three kinds of auto flanges by simply changing the pneumatic clamps that hold the rotor, and both the testing process and the correction process are in the same place. The machine is a semi-automated one, which means that, except for the starting up of the machine, the loading and unloading of testing rotors, everything is done automatically.The article discusses about the process of the general design and development of the automated dynamic balancing system.These are the main work done in this article: 1. developed the general idea of the whole system; 2. designed the hardware of the testing system through careful study of the dynamic testing principle; 3. designed the controlling mode based on programmable logic controllers and servo motors according to the feature of the correcting process, and did the connection and the debugging. 4. developed the software structure of the system, an introduction of the communication between different parts was made. 5. developed a correction strategy which promotes the combination of the theoretical calculation and the curve interpolation method.At the end of the article numerous tests are done to reach the conclusion that the automated dynamic balancing machine for flanges is capable of high correction rate per time and short working cycle. The cost is low, and it is especially appropriate for medium and minor enterprises all over China.
