I present a design process model of Multi-System product development based on improved DSM to solve the problems such as frequent reworking as well as iterative processes, complex coupling among design tasks and low efficiency in controlling. The design process model has there layers: Firstly, for Multi-Tech System coupling task order programming, I improve DSM arithmetic to achieve the banded diagonal matrix which is efficient in ordering the coupling task and base for picking key task as well as coupling modular partition. Secondly, based on the result of coupling task order programming, propose a new way to simplify the coupling through picking up key task, conversing between external coupling tasks' relationship and internal ones, and then found the optimizing model to accomplish the group partition. Finally, based on the result of coupling task order programming and group partition, pick up the design process of coupling task to show the coupling relationship in process level which posts the real relationship of coupling and simplify the coupling in reality. In this paper, I take the industry manipulator design as an example to illustrate the method how to express the coupling information in DSM, demonstrate the improved DSM arithmetic, then finish the manipulator design task order programming. After that, illustrate the method how to pick up key task and how to partition groups then how to use the optimizing model to determine the number of groups and the way of partition, afterward pick up the design process of every manipulator design task then show the final result of process programming. Finally, I process the software simulation and accomplish the main function of the design process model. The result shows that this model is effective in programming the coupling task and simplifying the coupling relationship.
