This dissertation is mainly concerned with several key issues for net-based collaborative design system, which include task planning, CSCW coordination theory, CSCW tools integration, knowledge engineering, multi-component agent and collaborative design and manufacturing system prototype for stamping product. Seven chapters are included in this dissertation.The background and fundamental concepts of collaborative design are expounded firstly in Chapter 1. A state-of-the-art review of existing research, projects and applications in the domain of collaborative design is presented. The background of project and the main contents of the dissertation are summarized after some problems needing to be solved and future trends are described.To plan rationally task for collaborative design and to shorten product development cycle, an algorithm to decouple the coupled task set is proposed in Chapter 2. According to the character of elements of Design Structure Matrix (DSM), Symbol Design Structure Matrix (SDSM) is defined and DSMs utilized for modeling the process aspect of engineering information systems are categorized. On the basis of Directed Diagram, a novel process modeling method, named Extended Directed Diagram (EDD), is proposed by extending the categories and meanings of its node and edge. A strategy substituting a weak dependence relationship and a feedback feature for a strong dependence relationship is put forward. An algorithm to weaken the strong dependence relationships of the coupled task set during the collaborative design process is proposed by using EDD and SDSM. The algorithm is demonstrated with a stamping die design, and the results show that it is not only effective and efficient to shorten design iteration cycles, but also easy to use for other domains.Knowledge engineering for collaborative design is studied in chapter 3. Knowledge for collaborative design is categorized from different viewpoints. By integrating the concept of design transaction and cluster method, a knowledge capture model about know-how knowledge for collaborative design is put forward. A general frame-rule based knowledge representation and KAU (knowledge application unit) based knowledge reference are discussed.In chapter 4, some CSCW conceptual models and theories and their corresponding UML representation are presented. By synthesizing the presented models, a novel theoretical model, named Extended Activity Model (EAM), is proposed. On the basis of EAM, a view and markup model for product data model and a net-based meeting model are put forward. A layer-based integration framework of CSCW tools is proposed according to the characters of CSCW tools.Based on multi-layer finite state machine (FSM) and requirements ofcollaborative design, a novel theory model of the component agent is proposed in chapter 5. On the other hand, a new collaborative design-oriented product data model (CDPDM) is put forward. The CDPDM includes three basic data modules (function data, structure data and management data) and a remote data modification module. This model has five characters: neutral representation, reusability, knowledge engineering, remote data modification and self-management. By binding the theoretical agent model and the CDPDM, a product component agent frame is proposed and some key issues, environment model construction, program and data encapsulation, software reuse and strategy set organization, are discussed.The development flow of stamping product for a typical enterprise is proposed in chapter 6. Considering the character of stamping product and the practical status of the enterprise, the process modeling of a remote collaborate design and manufacturing system for stamping product is described with the IDEFO methodology. The system structure and the data and information flow are proposed. Some applications, such as dynamic project enterprise building, product data model view and markup, knowledge application, remote modification for product data, and stamping simulation, are given in the end.Systematical summary...
