A Comparison Of Transport Structure Of Beijing With Several Megacities

The traffic composition analysis is important to the city traffic system since it will greatly impact the capacity of the traffic infrastructure and facilities. This paper analyzes the issues about the traffic composition of Beijing, such as population, area, developing situation and structure of economy, travel demand and composition, land use, traffic infrastructure, traffic operation government, investment and current system. To make comparison, those issues of similar cities in the scale, London, Tokyo, Guangzhou, have also been investigated. Based on the data and information about the issues collected, this paper studies the relationship between the urban traffic system and economy development, such as how the former support the later. The aspects of traffic service level, composition characteristic, the harmony between traffic composition and economy system, policy and decision at the turning point and the role of government are also discussed.The main points of the paper includes,(1) The history of city development and traffic composition transform according to the typical cities like London, Tokyo, Beijing and Guangzhou is studied, as well as the different types of traffic composition and its factors and impact on the society economy, policy and objectives for the traffic composition. The experiences are summarized.(2) The internality and environment of the traffic system development of Beijing is investigated by comparing with other cities. The meaningful experiences are highlighted.According to the stage of economy development, city expansion, land use and policy and strategy, the traffic composition characteristics and transform law are analyzed.(3) Through the above studies, the reasonable mode of the traffic composition of Beijing is established with the detail methods presented.
